Featuring Sharon Bernstein (voice, piano) in a unique multi-media performance set to paintings by self-taught Toronto artist Mayer Kirshenblatt. Mr. Kirshenblatt’s vibrant portraits and stories of his home town Apt (Poland) before the Holocaust inspire a rich blend of traditional song and contemporary sound. Hasmik Harutyunyan is an Armenian folk singer. She is the leading member of the S hoghaken Folk Ensemble and directs the Hayrik Muradyan Traditional Song and Dance Children's Ensemble. The music of the Shoghaken Ensemble is featured on the soundtrack of the film Ararat. Harutyunyan's Armenian Lullabies was recognized by the New York Times as an outstanding world music CD in 2004. The Sonoma State University Symphonic Wind Ensemble will bring to life, with music by composer Michael Shapiro, James Whale’s classic thriller Frankenstein! Starring Colin Clive and Boris Karloff in his debuting role as the Monster, the 1931 classic film did not contain any incidental music.

Thanks to composer Michael Shapiro, that has changed! The SWE will perform his haunting 2002 score to accompany the screening of the film! Bring the popcorn and don your favorite costume, because this event is going to be a scream !

Greater Bay Area and Sonoma County high school choruses join together in the 19th Annual High School Choral Festival hosted by Dr. Jenny Bent, Sonoma State's Choral Activities Director. The all-day performances and clinics are free of charge (parking fee applies) are open to the public.

Noma Winds is the Sonoma State University Department of Music’s premier youth wind ensemble. The group offers Sonoma County students a rich cultural and educational support group for high school instrumentalists currently enrolled in a band program, are home-schooled or otherwise don’t have access to a band program at their school.
